Complete Home Birth Care
Full package of care throughout pregnancy, birth and during the first few weeks with your newborn.
Home Birth
Birth in your own home is a safe and relaxing option for you, your family and your baby. For most people Home Birth is the safest and most optimum place to birth their baby. We know that being in an environment that is familiar and feels safe can enhance the progress of your labour and birth, reduce the chances of needing medical intervention, as well as improve your birth experience overall.
In your own home everything is in your control. It’s your space and you get to decide who will support you and assist you throughout.
Your birth, your way…
Full indemnity insurance is provided for your home birth, alongside your own personal Midwife who is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Your Midwife will follow the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines as well as adhere to the NMC code.
The Home Birth Care Package includes……..
Your personal midwife, committed to supporting you holistically throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth, and the early days with your newborn, goes beyond clinical care to ensure your overall well-being. Your midwife is here for you every step of the way. Available between appointments from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, via WhatsApp, email, or telephone, ensuring that you always have access to the care and support you need.
Our care is tailored specifically to your needs and preferences. Each appointment is unhurried and takes place in the comfort of your own home, providing you with the opportunity to discuss every aspect of your care in as much detail as you wish.
Continuity of care is incredibly beneficial for mum, baby, and the entire family. By building a relationship based on mutual trust and respect throughout your pregnancy, you’ll have the peace of mind knowing exactly who will be supporting you during labour, birth, and those precious early days with your newborn. This consistent, personalised approach ensures a smoother, more reassuring experience for all.
Antenatal Care
With you and your family at the centre of care at all times, you are in the driver’s seat, with care being offered in line with NICE Antenatal Care guidelines.
Our comprehensive antenatal care schedule begins with a booking appointment to explore your birth preferences, medical history, and any previous birth experiences. At 12 weeks, you'll receive a full antenatal check and follow-up after your ultrasound scan. By 16 weeks, we provide another full antenatal check with the option for an obstetric review if you wish.
At 20 weeks, another full check and scan follow-up is conducted. Regular full antenatal checks continue at 24, 28, 31, 34, and 36 weeks. Appointments can include discussions around hypnobirthing techniques, birth preferences, preparation for birth and the early days with a newborn.
From 37 weeks, our 24/7 on-call service begins, with two midwives, or a midwife and a doula, on call for your birth.
Further antenatal appointments are offered at 38, 39, and 40 weeks. If needed, additional full checks will be provided beyond 41 weeks.
Birth Care
Your birth experience is tailored to your preferences and can include holistic care and support, use of a TENS machine, Entonox (gas & air) with necessary accessories like a mouthpiece, two midwives or a midwife and doula on call 24/7 from 37 weeks onwards, and immediate postnatal care for both mum and baby, including support right after birth and help with your preferred feeding method.
Postnatal Care
Life with a new baby is a wonderful, yet sometimes vulnerable time. While you recover physically, process your birth experience, and adjust to life as a new parent, we will be there to support you and your family through this transition.
Regular visits are included in this package of care, starting with a full postnatal check and holistic support for you, your baby, and your family on Day 1. Daily visits in the first few days are an option for you, along with the Newborn Initial Physical Examination (NIPE), should this feel right for you.
On Day 5, you'll receive the option of the newborn blood spot screen (NBBS) as part of the national screening program.
Similar visits occur on Day 7, Day 10 (which also includes the handover to a Health Visitor, if consented to), and visits can continue weekly up to week 6 postnatally.
Each visit is tailored to meet your individual needs and includes emotional and physical support, a birth debrief if needed, feeding support for you and your baby, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, personalised guidance, friendly chats, and a cup of tea. You will also receive ongoing support via WhatsApp between visits.
All births are covered by professional indemnity insurance, included in the home birth care package costs as standard. This covers your Midwife to provide care and support in all birth settings, as required by law.
