Antenatal Care

With you and your family at the centre of care at all times, you are in the driver’s seat, with care being offered in line with NICE Antenatal Care guidelines. We will also have plenty of time to discuss birth preferences and preparation for the early days with your newborn.

Our comprehensive antenatal care schedule begins with a booking appointment to explore your birth preferences, medical history, and any previous birth experiences. At 12 weeks, you'll receive a full antenatal check and follow-up after your ultrasound scan.

By 16 weeks, we provide another full antenatal check with the option for an obstetric review if needed. At 20 weeks, another full check and scan follow-up is conducted. Regular full antenatal checks continue at 24, 28, 31, 34, and 36 weeks.

From 37 weeks, our 24/7 on-call service begins, ensuring continuous support.

Full antenatal checks are carried out at 38, 39, and 40 weeks, with the 40-week appointment offering an optional membrane sweep. If needed, additional full checks will be provided beyond 41 weeks.

You'll have a dedicated midwife available 24/7 from 37 weeks gestation, supporting you at your chosen hospital as your advocate and birth supporter.

Offering the use of a TENS Machine, providing immediate postnatal care for both you and your baby, and assisting with the initiation of your chosen feeding method.

Birth care

Postnatal Care

Life with a new baby is a wonderful, yet sometimes vulnerable time. While you recover physically, process your birth experience, and adjust to life as a new parent, we will be there to support you and your family through this transition.

Regular visits are included in this package of care, starting with a full postnatal check and holistic support for you, your baby, and your family on Day 1. On Day 5, you'll receive another full check, support, and the newborn blood spot screen (NBBS) as part of the national screening program, if you consent. Similar visits occur on Day 7, Day 10 (which also includes the handover to a Health Visitor, if consented to), Day 14, Day 21, and Day 28.

Each visit is tailored to meet your individual needs and includes emotional and physical support, a birth debrief if needed, feeding support for you and your baby, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, personalized guidance, friendly chats, and a cup of tea made by me. You will also receive ongoing virtual support.

All births are covered by professional indemnity insurance, included in the hospital birth care package costs as standard.

This covers your Midwife to provide care and support in all birth settings, as required by law.
